In total, we have 24 staff, with a balance of office and field personnel. We also collaborate with a network of external freelance tradespeople and other professionals, to ensure we deliver complete and efficient projects.
The company is led by our founder and managing director, Colin Westbury
After attending Sir Thomas Rich’s Grammar School in Gloucester, Colin embarked on a career with local building contractor EG Carter, where he spent 15 years growing as a professional.
He began as a carpenter, transitioned through various roles, and eventually became a surveyor in their Major Works department.
Colin's experiences at EG Carter were incredibly formative, and he continues to hold the company in high regard – so much so that, upon leaving, he promised himself that he wouldn't work for anyone who didn’t match their standards.
That's why he decided to start his own company in early 2000, with an ethos of “solutions not problems – construction with a difference”. Here at Kilbury, we always endeavour to provide solutions, both technical and cost effective, to bring the project to a successful conclusion.
The first project Colin did after founding Kilbury involved installing a patio for a close friend, followed by building a cedar-clad shed for another family friend.
The third job marked Kilbury’s significant entry into the local construction market: building a substantial cold store for Cotswold Dairy in Tewkesbury.

Whilst marketed separately under the Construction and Conservation brands, we all operate as one unified entity under the Kilbury name, exemplifying our belief in being “One Team”.
